Student/Parent MentorConnect requirements are as follows:
The student will:
1. Have an interest in the activity chosen
2. Attend and take active part in ten one-hour sessions, within the guidelines and procedures set forth by MentorConnect, based on the best practices of the National Mentoring Partnership
3. Sign and return the Student-Parent Contract
The parent(s) or adult caretaker(s) will:
3. Obtain a state or FBI background check. (Through MentorConnect, background checks are free in Montgomery County, Ohio, or $18 elsewhere)
4. Be present at each scheduled lesson and act within the guidelines and procedures set forth by
MentorConnect, based on the best practices of the National Mentoring Partnership
5. Get the student to lessons in a timely manner
6. Evaluate mentoring sessions, every two weeks
7. Provide referrals for the mentor, which may
include writing a letter of reference and/or allowing the mentor to share the parent's
contact information on resumes, college applications, scholarship forms, etc
8. Agree to help your child get to any community service assignments obtained in this program, to earn the free lessons
9. Be patient; it can take 6 months to a year to find the right match. We hope for a faster result, but the best matches are the ones that are not rushed. Pray about it. We will pray, too.
